HYDERABAD: December 20, 2017. (By Abbas Kassar) Various religious and social organizations took out rallies, held protest demonstrations and address news conferences to condemn terrorist attack on Quetta Church on Sunday last claiming 11 lives with 57 injured. Christian, Muslim, Hindu communities along with political and social organizations took rally led by Sooba Bhatti and Boota Imtiaz.
Rally was aimed to condemn the terrorist attack, sympathise with victim and injured and to offer pray for the injured to recovery of health. The participants showered rose petals and held vigil lights in their memories. Addressing rally Sooba Bhatti said the attack was conspiracy to create religious hatred. They demanded deployment of special police force on Churches security as per orders of Supreme Court of 2014. Participants chanted slogans against terrorists. Those who participated included father Riasat Masih, father Khadim Gill, Javed Sadiq, Lala Haleem Shaikh, Raja Bheel, Bilal Naghar, Mukhtar Gill, Wasim Izak, Irfan Khokhar, Patrick Asif, Christopher Columbus, Victor Sadiq Gill, Pushpa Kumari, Nasrin Masih, Ashfaq Bhatti and others.
A press conference at Hyderabad press club was addressed by Bishop Rafiq Masih, father Paloos, Pastor Riasat Masih, pastor Victor Deen, Mumtaz Bashir Bhatti,Mansha Asghar on behalf of All Christian Community Hyderabad. They expressed deep grief with a Quetta Church. They prayed for early recovery of injured and strength to victim families to bear the loss of their family members. They also thanked police and security forces for their timely action which prevented more loss of lives. They demanded full security to their places of worship and compensation to families of dead and injured.
Meanwhile Christian Peace Alliance also held protest demonstration in front of press club here condemning and demanded from government to pay compensation of Rs. 3 million to each victim family. They demanded fool proof security to Churches with walk through gates. Protest was led by alliance president Afzal Khokhar, general secretary Naveed Bhatti and Iqbal Gill press coordinator.
