Ecumenical Christmas Carol 2017

Lahore: January 4, 2018. (PCP) His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw OFM presided over the 6th Ecumenical Christmas Carol 2018 organized by National Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism (Catholic Bishops Conference Pakistan) in association with Ecumenical Solidarity Committee Lahore (ESCL) held at St. John,s Church, Liaqatabd, Lahore, hosted by Rev. Emmanuel Khokher. Rt. Rev. Bishop Irfan Jamil, Church of Pakistan Raiwind Diocese, Bishop Azad Marshal (Church of Pakistan Raiwind Diocese), Lft. Col Washington Daniel, and Major Salamat Masih, Divisional Commander Salvation Army were the guests of honour on this occasion while the executive members of ESCL including Fr. Inayat Bernard, Rev. Emmanuel Khokhar, Rev. I. B. Rocky, Rev. Amjad Niamat, Rev. Saleem Khokhar, Major Saleem, Fr. Francis Nadeem, Fr Patrick Samuel and Fr. Adnan Kashif were also present on this glorious occasion. A good number of lay people were also present on this occasion. The Lord Mayor of Lahore Col. (R) Mubashar Javed also graced the occasion with his presence. The choirs of Salvation Army Church, Central Cathedral Church, Christ Church Lahore Cantt, Christ Church Raiwind Diocese, St. Mary’s Church Choir, Gulberg, Catholic Church Township Lahore, St. St. Ester’s Church and St. Mary Magdalene’s Church Kahna proclaimed the birth of Christ through singing carol in the melodious voices. The host choir of St. John’s Church, Liaquatabad sang a number of melodic carols in the beginning and at the end of the programme. All the choirs sang carols with religious fervor and filled the hearts of all the participants with true joy of Christmas. All the choirs received enormous appreciation from the audience who also clapped with pleasure and sang with them. The guests of honor greeted all the audience and also shared their views with the participants. Talking to the audience Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw said, “Jesus Christ is the light of the word and we have to bring this light into our heart and homes. Executive Secretary (NCIDE) and Coordinator of the ESCL Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap extended vote to thanks to all the guests and participants and appreciated the efforts of all the executive members of the committee. He presented a special token of gratitude to Rev. Shahid Mehraj and Rev. Emmanuel Khokher for hosting this Carols Service at St. John’s Church, Liaqatabad, Lahore.
