Interfaith Prayer Service for Peace

Lahore: Jan. 3, 2018, National Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism (Catholic Bishops Conference Pakistan) organized an Interfaith Prayer service for Peace in connection with International Peace Day on 1st January 2018. This Prayer service was presided over by His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw (Chairman NCIDE) whereas a number of Muslim, Christian, Hindu and Sikh religious leaders participated in this prayer service. Fr. Francis Nadeem (Executive Secretary NCIDE) while welcoming the guests stressed upon the need of peace and harmony among the followers of all the religions, so new hopes and blessings may flourish in the New Year. Moulana Mufti Ashiq Hussain presented the aims and objectives of the said programme in the beginning of the programme. The chief guest, His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw cited the efforts of Interreligious dialogue which have brought all the religions on one platform. Fr. Inyat Bernard read out the message of Holy Father Pope Francis for the Peace Day 2018. Fr. Qaiser Feroz also presented the message of His Grace Archbishop Jospeh Arshad (Chairman Catholic Bishops’ Conference Pakistan). In this message Archbishop Joseph Arshad invited all to pray for peace in country and contribute our share for the growth of peace and harmony. If there is peace in inerself of a person only then there will be peace in the families. The peace in family will flourish peace in the society. Peace is the path of God and we human are called to walk on this path. All the Religious leaders lit a Candle of Peace together with a hope to illuminate the darkness and grow in faith and hope. The speakers in their message appreciated this gesture and prayed that may this year be filled with peace, tolerance, happiness and solidarity among all the religions. Among the participants of this prayers service were Fr. Francis Nadeem, Moulana Abdulkhabeer Azad, Hafiz Nouman, Hafiz Sayed Ashiq Hussain, Moulana Muhammad Asim Makhdoom, Allama Muhammad Zubair, Sardar Bishan Singh, Dr. Badar Munir, Sardar Kalyan Singh, Anwar-ula-Khan, Fr. Pascal Paulus, Fr. Inayat Bernard, Fr. Patrick Samuel, Fr. Qaisar Feroz, Fr. Adnan Kashif, Fr. Fiaz Rafiq, Fr. Nazair John, Rev. I. B.Rocky, Fr. Samson Dilawar, Rev. Saleem Khokhar and were among the other prominent guests. The programme was attended by a large number of people belonging to different religions and walks of life.
