HYDERABAD: August 4, 2019. (By Abbas Kassar) Christian community of GOR colony near railway line Hyderabad held protest demonstration in front of press club here on Saturday against threatened demolition of their 150 homes.
The protest was led by Sooba Bhatti advocate and joined by families of Christians residents of GOR colony. Sooba Bhatti told media that Christians were residing here since last 50 years near railway line GOR colony and were paying taxes and utility bills.
He demanded that they should not be displaced and their homes should not be demolished. He said either they be an alternate place to make their homes.
He made appeal to chief justice, prime minister, federal minister of railway, chief minister of Sindh, Bishop Samson Shukrddin Bishop of Catholic Church, Bishop Kalim Jan Bishop of Church of Pakistan to help save their homes from being demolished as where more than 1500 persons including children and women would go if their homes were demolished. Others who spoke on the occasion were Ashraf Masih, Munir Masih, Nasir Pervez,Yakoob Masih, Yunis Masih and Shamoon Niamat.
