Police fled from the station. On duty police officials have been suspended. The prime minister and authorities' notices and ordered for inquiry.

Few videos of the incident are viral on social media that showed how the mob attacked and accused being dragged to roads and killed.

Naveed Walter president of

Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) said that the prime minister and authorities took notices, but they do not make strategies to ends up such issues and to deal with when an urgency happened like mob lynchings on accused of blasphemy in Nankana Sahib

Naveed Walter said that in Faisalabad; Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) condemned the mob attack on Muhammad Waris, an accused of blasphemy has murdered in Warburton police Station in Nankana Sahib, Pakistan on Saturday, 11 February 2023.

The mob lynched a man Muhammad Waris was under custody of police for allegedly desecrating the Quran (Muslims holy book).

The mob stormed the police station with different tools including wooden and steel rods, took Waris out of the premises, subjected him to several cases, the police gave a space to mobs as like Muhammad Waris and Sri Lankan Manager case. He said after few days all will become normal, and the authorities' notices will be ''expired''. He appealed to Supreme Court of Pakistan to take Suo moto action, not on the murder of accused of blasphemy but to make a long-standing strategy and establishing mechanism for permanent solutions, he added.

Naveed Walter said that the blasphemy cases are sensitive so the security of every accused should be tightened. Unfortunately any government has not taken any serious actions to stem lynching over blasphemy issues while the country has experienced many vigilant actions of mobs.

Naveed Walter said, only the courts have a right to confirm who is guilty but not any individual or group. The inability in stopping violations of rule of law is actually a support of violators, he added.
