Lahore, Punjab: In a tragic and disturbing turn of events, a Pakistani man set himself on fire outside the Lahore High Court in a desperate attempt to draw attention to the inefficiencies and alleged corruption in the country’s judicial system. The man, whose identity remains unknown, reportedly poured petrol on himself and ignited the flames, overwhelmed by the lack of timely justice and frustrated by the pervasive delays within the legal process.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the country, with many questioning the growing crisis within Pakistan's courts, where justice is often delayed or, in some cases, believed to be for sale. This heartbreaking act has brought attention to the harsh reality faced by countless individuals who, after exhausting all other avenues, see no alternative but to resort to extreme measures as a last cry for justice.

LEAD Ministries Pakistan, a civil rights organization focused on human rights and justice, has condemned the incident, emphasizing that it reflects the larger, systemic problems within the legal framework. The group expressed deep concern over the environment in which citizens feel their grievances are ignored, forcing them to take desperate actions like self-immolation in search of a voice.

“Such an appalling act is not only a reflection of one individual’s despair but a representation of the systemic failures within Pakistan’s judicial system,” said a spokesperson for LEAD Ministries. “When people feel that justice is out of their reach, or worse, corrupted beyond recognition, it leads to extreme consequences like this.”
