Faisalabad, Pakistan: A Christian mother is pleading for protection and justice after her 15-year-old daughter, Mehak, was allegedly framed in a false theft case and subjected to police torture by an influential Muslim feudal landlord. 

Mehak, who worked as a maid in the landlord’s household, was reportedly detained unlawfully and falsely accused of theft. According to her mother, the landlord had a personal enmity with another man and used Mehak as a pawn in his revenge. Under duress and alleged torture by the police, Mehak was forced to name the rival man as her accomplice. As a result, the man was arrested and also reportedly tortured while in custody. 

“This is not just a case of injustice — this is cruelty against the poor and voiceless,” said Pastor Imran Amanat, leader of LEAD Ministries Pakistan, a Christian advocacy organization. “For God’s sake, we ask the state authorities to launch an impartial investigation and bring justice to these victims.” 

The incident has brought renewed attention to the ongoing misuse of police powers in Pakistan, particularly by powerful individuals who use law enforcement to settle personal scores. Human rights groups say such abuses are common in rural and feudal-controlled regions, where marginalized communities — especially religious minorities like Christians — are often left defenseless. 

“Christians in Pakistan are living in fear,” said Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Founder of LEAD Ministries Pakistan. “The poor have no protection when the rich and powerful can manipulate the system so easily.” 

The mother of Mehak is demanding urgent action and justice. “My daughter is innocent. They tortured her. We are Christians, we are poor, but we are human. Who will give us justice?” she said. 

LEAD Ministries has called on the government, judiciary, and human rights bodies to take immediate notice and hold accountable those responsible — both in law enforcement and among the feudal elite.
