Four Christian Workers Abducted in Sheikhupura; LEAD Ministries Condemns Incident. Report by Sardar Mushtaq Gill
Sheikhupura, Pakistan — A deeply troubling case of alleged abduction has raised serious concern among human rights advocates after four Christian brick-kiln workers — Tariq, Shahzad, Sagar, and Shahid — reportedly went missing from the suburban village of Mana Wala, Basti Lam Wali, in Sheikhupura district.
According to the families, the men had recently filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking payment of their lawful wages, and the court’s decision had reportedly come in their favor. Relatives allege that shortly after the ruling, brick-kiln owner Rana Sher Khan and his associates abducted the four workers in retaliation. Police have not yet issued an official statement, though an investigation is said to be ongoing.
Family members report that they have been seeking help from both the Lahore High Court and local police authorities but claim that their pleas are being ignored. They allege that the brick-kiln owner is a powerful and influential figure in the area, and that despite police involvement, no meaningful progress has been made in recovering the abducted men. According to them, “the voices of poor Christians are not being heard,” and they fear for the safety of their loved ones.
Pastor Imran Amanat, leader of LEAD Ministries, strongly condemned the alleged abductions and called for the immediate recovery of the four Christian workers. He urged authorities to take decisive action, emphasizing that vulnerable bonded-labor workers, many of whom belong to minority communities, continue to face harassment, intimidation, and exploitation. Pastor Amanat reaffirmed LEAD Ministries’ commitment to supporting bonded laborers and persecuted Christian families through legal advocacy, humanitarian assistance, and public awareness efforts.
As the families of Tariq, Shahzad, Sagar, and Shahid wait anxiously for any development, community members and rights organizations are calling for urgent intervention from government officials to ensure justice, accountability, and the safe return of the missing men.
