Kasur: Tak Memorial Church in the village of Preme Nagar, Ganekey, near Raiwind, was vandalised late Sunday night in what police are calling an attack on a place of worship and a violation of religious freedom. The assailant reportedly damaged the church’s minaret, broke the sacred cross, and desecrated the Holy Bible, leaving the local Christian community shocked and concerned for their safety.

Authorities confirmed that a suspect has been arrested and is under investigation, as police probe whether others or any extremist group were involved in the attack. Security personnel have been deployed at the church and nearby areas to prevent further incidents. Local leaders and community members condemned the attack as a blatant violation of religious respect, peace, and tolerance.

Pastor Imran Amanat, head of LEAD Ministries, denounced the vandalism, calling it a direct assault on Christians’ right to worship freely and safely. He thanked government authorities and the police for their swift action while urging the community to remain vigilant. LEAD Ministries also highlighted its ongoing documentation of persecution against Christians in Pakistan and called on the international church and global faith leaders to pray for protection, justice, and healing for the affected families.

Christian leaders stressed that while this attack is isolated, it reflects broader security challenges for religious minorities in Pakistan, where faith-based violence has previously escalated over blasphemy allegations, sometimes resulting in attacks on churches, homes, and communities.

Political representatives and community leaders visited the church to offer condolences and support. Families in Preme Nagar expressed both fear and resilience, determined to continue practicing their faith despite the attack. LEAD Ministries, alongside other advocacy groups, reiterated their appeal for global prayer and solidarity, emphasizing that faith communities worldwide stand with Christians facing persecution and violence in Pakistan.
