Lahore, Pakistan: LEAD Ministries has expressed its sincere appreciation to the European Union for its continued efforts to highlight religious freedom, protection of minorities, and the rights of vulnerable communities. The ministry described international attention as an important source of hope for victims of persecution and for those seeking justice and equal protection under the law.

Pastor Imran Amanat, Head of LEAD Ministries in Pakistan, thanked the European Union for raising concerns regarding the challenges faced by religious minorities, including Christian communities affected by forced conversions, abductions, and other forms of pressure.

“LEAD Ministries deeply appreciates the European Union for standing with vulnerable religious communities and for emphasizing the importance of human dignity, freedom of religion, and the protection of women and children. International attention gives encouragement to those who seek justice and equal rights,” Pastor Imran Amanat said.

He added that the protection of religious minorities requires continued commitment from governments, civil society, and the international community to ensure that every citizen can practice their faith without fear.

Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Founder of LEAD Ministries, also welcomed the European Union’s engagement on human rights and religious freedom issues, stating that international attention plays an important role in encouraging justice, equality, and protection for vulnerable communities.

“The voice of the international community is significant for people who face discrimination, persecution, and threats because of their faith. We appreciate efforts that promote religious freedom and the protection of fundamental human rights,” Gill said.

LEAD Ministries Urges European Union to Raise Blasphemy-Related Concerns in Pakistan

Along with expressing gratitude, LEAD Ministries has urged the European Union and international human rights organizations to continue raising concerns regarding blasphemy-related cases in Pakistan, warning that such accusations can create serious risks not only for individuals but also for entire communities.

Referring to concerns raised regarding a recent blasphemy-related incident in Baldia Town, Karachi, LEAD Ministries stated that allegations involving the misuse of personal photographs, identity documents, and religious material require a transparent and impartial investigation. The organization emphasized that every accused person must receive due legal process and protection until the facts are established through the law.

Pastor Imran Amanat requested continued international attention to such matters, stating:

“Blasphemy-related accusations can have devastating consequences. They do not only affect the accused or suspected individuals; they can place entire Christian communities at risk of fear, violence, and attacks by radical elements. Every person accused under blasphemy laws must be protected, and justice must be based on evidence and a fair legal process.”

He recalled the violent attacks in Jaranwala in 2023, where allegations of Quran desecration led to attacks against churches and Christian homes, creating fear and displacement among Christian families. He noted that timely intervention by law enforcement authorities in Karachi helped prevent a wider tragedy and protected the Christian community from possible collective harm.

“Protecting communities from violence is important, but protecting individuals who face accusations is equally necessary. Every citizen deserves security, justice, and a fair hearing according to the law,” Pastor Amanat added.

Warning Against Misuse of Social Media, Courier Services, and Religious Accusations

Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Founder of LEAD Ministries, expressed concern over the misuse of social media and other communication channels by individuals who may attempt to trap, blackmail, or take revenge against innocent people through deceptive methods, including online manipulation and honey-trapping tactics.

He stated that religious sensitivities can be exploited by those seeking to harm individuals or create conflict. “In some situations, blasphemy allegations can become a dangerous tool in the hands of people who want to settle personal disputes, intimidate others, or spread hatred. Such accusations can have serious consequences for individuals and their families,” Gill said.

He further highlighted concerns over the alleged use of courier services and other means to send religiously sensitive material with the intention of provoking anger and unrest.

“We are witnessing concerns where sensitive religious material, including alleged desecration-related content, can be circulated through channels such as courier services. Such acts, if committed deliberately, can easily provoke strong emotions among people and create situations where innocent individuals and entire communities may face serious danger,” Gill stated.

He emphasized that allegations involving religious material must be addressed through lawful investigation rather than public anger or violence.

“The law must identify the truth and hold responsible those who intentionally misuse religious sentiments to harm others. No innocent person or community should become a victim because of false accusations, manipulation, or the actions of individuals seeking revenge,” he added.

Sardar Mushtaq Gill further noted that Christian communities in Pakistan often face collective consequences when a blasphemy-related allegation occurs or is created.

“The impact is not limited to one individual. The entire Christian community can become vulnerable to fear, discrimination, threats, and violence. Therefore, strong legal safeguards, fair investigations, and protection for all citizens are essential,” Gill said.

LEAD Ministries reaffirmed its commitment to promoting religious freedom, peaceful coexistence, and equal rights for all citizens of Pakistan. The ministry called for responsible use of social media, effective law enforcement, protection of individuals facing accusations, and stronger safeguards to prevent violence and misuse of religious sensitivities.
