Inspector General Police Islamabad has termed it a suicide attack, Police has cordoned off entire area, according to Geo News correspondent, the blast occurred in front of Aabpara police station after the Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) conference. Body parts were scattered in the area and ambulances reached the site of the blast. Nearly 40 injured have been shifted to Islamabad¢s Poly Clinic hospital and most of the injured include policemen. Emergency has been declared in all the hospitals of Islamabad. Bomb disposal squad has reached the site of the blast. According to information, Reserve police personnel were targeted in the blast and the dead include policemen from Islamabad and Punjab. Death toll is expected to mount considering the intensity of the blast. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amir Ahmed Ali along with other senior officials has reached the place. Station House Officer Sehala, Inspector Chaudhary Safdar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Zafar Hayyat have also been killed in the blast.. Advisor on Interior to Prime Minister, Rehman Malik has said that blast near Melody Chowk area was suicide attack in which police personnel were targeted. He said the country was passing through critical times and obscurantist elements wanted to create crises in the country. Interior Advisor said the suicide blast took place after the Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) moot was over and it targeted policemen standing in front of Aabpara police station. Rehman Malik confirmed the deaths of 8 policemen while 25 others were injured. He said a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been constituted to probe into the incident. He said morale of law-enforcing agencies was high extremists wanted to destabilize Pakistan. Malik said after PPP led government came to power, 98 percent decrease was noted in suicide attacks. RFFT has learnt that suicide bomber used 5 Kg explosive mixed with 5Kgs of iron pellets and nails. President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, Minister for Information Sherry Rehman, Asif Ali Zardari co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Mian Nawaz Sharif head of PML-N and Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has sternly condemned the suicide attack and condoled with the bereaved families and announced compensation for the effected families. A combined funeral ceremony of all the deceased policemen in the suicide bombing would be solemnized at 11:00 AM (Pakistan Standard Time)
