Fundamental Muslims injured Pastor Anthony and other worshipers in an attack on UP Church.

Karachi: July 14, 2008. (PCP report) The Muslim attacked the worshipers in a UP Church in Noorknan, situated on Karachi-Hyderabad Super Highway in broad daylight with swords and batons when Christian were worshiping on July 10, 2008.

The same Church was also attacked and destroyed in 2001, but government of Sindh accorded permission to built new Church building on same location. This Church in outskirts of Karachi city is administered by United Presbyterians and known as UP Church, which serves the Christians of this locality. Pastor Iqbal Anthony leads congregation with support of local congregation who managed to erect the present structure of Church. The Muslim residents ransacked this Church in 2001, had strong political support of Muslim leaders and were saved from any legal action A group named Compassion Asia adds, “ 15-18 Muslim of Gul Hassan Berohi group equipped with batons and swords entered in Church and attacked Pastor Iqbal Anthony first. The attackers were shouting “infidel stop false rituals” “ infidels can not stay here” “it is locality of Muslims, so, become Muslims” Sword wounds seriously injured Pastor Anthony, Sanjed Masih and Haroon Masih and batons attacks injured women worshipers also. The Christians have appealed to government of Sindh to take action against Muslim attackers and provide security to Christians.
