19 Aug 2002
New York. August 17. Mr. Nazir S Bhatti, Chief of, Pakistan Christian Congress, in a live interview to Canadian Radio Caravan said that adoption of Objective Resolution in the Constitution as preamble in 1973 was the root cause to set apart the Pakis
He said that this constitution preamble encouraged the military ruler Zia Ul Haq to introduce the Prohibition and HUD ordinance of president order no4 of 1979 to implement Islamic laws. In the light of this preamble the majority of Muslim sects planned to introduce their own laws causing conflict among Muslims of other sects and later on with other religious minorities in Pakistan.
In an answer to another questions he said that both India and Pakistan are used to blame each other on the unrest in their respective states but its true that India is not involved in these recent attacks of militants on the Christian worshipers of Taxila and Christian School Murree but the banned extremist groups in Pakistan are after these killings and they have openly taken responsibility of these terrorist act but government of Pakistan is afraid to use iron hand against these militancy groups, the reasons known best to the administration.
In a questions of Caravan Radio that militant killed in Azad Kashmir by police are clean shaved which prove them to be not Muslim extremist group members, Mr. Bhatti said that terrorist have no religion and we can't say that if they have not beard they are not Muslims. He added that all these groups had close contacts with ISI for years and the government knows them but feeling hesitation to arrest them. We believe that government can stop this sad incident if they adopt necessary security measure Mr. Bhatti said that we demand the safety and security of Christians in Pakistan and its the constitutional obligation of the state to do so. He said that we demand to end these attacks on Christians. We are son of soil and peaceful behavior of Christians may not be counted as their weakness because we shall not allow anyone to make our own lands miserable for living for us.
In another Radio interview to WMCA, live with Andy Anderson Mr. Nazir S Bhatti said that Christians are deprived of their basic equal democratic rights in Pakistan. The Christians are peaceful community in Pakistan and an easy prey of these extremist militant groups who are attacking the churches and massacring the worshipers. He said that we feared such attacks and that do not seem end to it but there is more danger of such attacks in future.
Mr. Nisar Khan, Chief op IF, In the same live interview said that Christians persecution in Pakistan have put them under siege and Christians of Pakistan deserve right to demand refugee status from the United Nations. He said that IF shall submit memorandum to UN to declare the Pakistani Christians the refugee status as Pakistan is turned to be place of genocide the race of Christians.
