First-timers won all of the evening's acting prizes: Best Actress Charlize Theron, Best Actor Sean Penn, Best Supporting Actor Tim Robbins, and Best Supporting Actress Renée Zellweger each took home their first Oscars.Theron, who won for her unglamorous portrayal of real-life serial killer Aileen Wuornos, tearfully thanked her mother.
''You have sacrificed so much for me to be able to live here and make my dreams come true,'' she said. A teary Zellweger thanked her fellow nominees, while Tim Robbins offered a message to victims of ''abuse and violence'': ''There is no
shame in seeking help and counseling.''
