Montreal. April1. Dr. Stephen Gill was in Montreal, a metropolis of Canada, on March 27 to pay his tribute to Shahid Bhagat Singh, a political martyr of India, executed by the British rulers for his fight for the freedom of India. The auditorium of B

Dr. Stephen Gill said that only the wine of peace and human rights is available at the bar of his poetry. Martyrs like Bhagat Singh give their lives for their vision of a better world. He presented a few drops from that wine to illustrate the vision. Among the special guests include the Hon. Eleni Bakopanos, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Human Resources & Skills Development, and also the Hon. Dr. Irwin Cotler, Minister for Justice and Attorney General of Canada. Stephen Gill was introduced by Monika Spolia, chief editor of Bharat Times. She told the audience that poetry of Dr. Stephen Gill represent the dream of Shahid Bhagat Singh who gave his life for a better India. Dr. Stephen Gill is a poet laureate of Ansted University, and author of more than twenty books whose poetry and prose have appeared in more than four hundred publications. He writes mostly about peace and human rights issues. Tribute to Shahid Bhagat Singh was paid also by local artists through songs and dances. Ms. Vishal Bhandri was the master of ceremony. The event was organized by the Indo-Canada Association in cooperation with Bharat Times, a respectable publication from Montreal. Dr. Stephen Gill was sponsored by the Canada Council through the Writers Union of Canada.
