Pakistani charged with bomb threat in USA

NEW YORK: A Pakistani woman was charged on Thursday with making a false bomb threat that caused a flight en route to Pakistan to return to New York.

Samina Faisal, who lives in Long Island, was released on a $250,000 bond after pleading not guilty in a federal court in Brooklyn. She and her lawyer declined to comment on the charge. A Federal Bureau of Investigation agent alleged in an arrest warrant affidavit that Faisal told an emergency dispatcher on Feb 13 that there were two bombs aboard flight PK 718 on its way to Lahore. The affidavit said the sister of Faisal's boyfriend was being deported to Pakistan aboard the flight. The plane turned around and returned to John F Kennedy International Airport, where the passengers disembarked and the plane was searched by police dogs. No bombs were found.
