15 Jan 2006
Philadelphia. January 15, 2006. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President, Pakistan Christian Congress expressed grave concern on military action in Balouchistan and termed it an attempt to prolong military rule in country.
He said that Nawab Akbar Bughti have always raised voice for oppressed communities in Pakistan and never bargained on principals and can be counted as milestone in democracy in Pakistan. The use of force against Bughti is conspiracy to end democracy in Pakistan.
Mr. Bhatti said that Balouchistan is biggest province of Pakistan and deserves right to be treated as elder brother and due share in resources of state and share in power but its fact that Balouchistan is always deprived of due share. The Balouchi nation have played active part in democratic process and demanded their rights but due consideration was never given on that by Islamabad.
Mr. Nazir Bhatti said that government of Pakistan who claims to be custodian of Islamic rights must extend their hand in solution of problems faced by Balouchi nation instead of firing on them. Islam says, " Give bread to them who are hungry" and Baluchi are hungry and poor while Balouchistan is full of mineral and natural resources. Its foremost duty of government to satisfy Balouchi youth by proving them due job opportunities and dialogue with Balouch leaders.
Mr. Bhatti said that government of Pakistan have always ignored minorities and oppressed community's issues and present situation in Balouchistan is result of same attitude.
Nazir S Bhatti said that its need of time that government of Pakistan may step forward to initiate dialogues with Nawab Akbar Bughti, Sardar Atta Ullah Mengal and Sardar Marri to resolve issues of Balouchistan and Balouchi nation instead of military operation.
Dr. Nazir Bhatti demanded government of Pakistan to use full force against terrorists and religious extremists instead of Balouchi nation.
