Boko Haram Islamists in Nigeria Slaughter Teenage Boys for their Unholy Islamic Jihad. By Paul Joseph Nzeribe and Lee Jay Walker

In northeast Nigeria the barbaric Islamist Boko Haram slaughtered many teenage boys based on their lust for killing. Currently it is known that 29 teenage boys were brutally murdered by Boko Haram but some sources state that 42 individuals perished in the latest attack by this Islamist terrorist organization. It is nothing to do with poverty because Nigerians irrespective of faith or no faith, face the same problems. However, how can northeast Nigeria progress with maniac killers within Boko Haram frequently slaughtering for the pure fun of it?
Indeed, it is time for the nation state of Nigeria to wake-up to this increasing menace because the political elites appear to be blighted by inertia. This is rather surprising because the armed forces of Nigeria have a robust track record of helping other regional nations during times of major upheaval. Yet, the track record against the Boko Haram Islamist movement is far from robust. After all, the latest attack against teenage boys at a local school in Yobe state is nothing new and local people are expressing their anger towards the security forces.
The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, is correct to condemn the latest brutal massacre in such harsh terms. He states the massacre as “heinous, brutal and mindless…deranged terrorists and fanatics who have clearly lost all human morality and (who have) descended to bestiality.”
These words will be shared throughout Nigeria yet questions remain about the behavior of the Nigerian security forces. According to local residents the Nigerian military withdrew from checkpoints prior to the brutal attack by Boko Haram. The first withdrawal took place over a week ago and the second checkpoint withdrawal took place just prior to the brutal Islamist terrorist attack against innocent teenage boys.
One can only imagine that these young boys were focused on studying and preparing for the future in the town of Buni Yadi. Then suddenly a menace to all of society struck and slaughtered in the name of Islamic jihad. In the world of Islamic jihadists they care little if they slaughter Muslims, Christians – or whoever – just like they care zilch if they slaughter children or adults.
The state of Yobe in Nigeria is mainly Muslim and governor Ibrahim Gaidam is clearly unhappy by the role of the Nigerian security services. This firstly applies to withdrawing two important checkpoints in relation to the latest attack. Then secondly it applies to the slow response of the security forces in helping the school that was attacked by Boko Haram barbarians.
Governor Gaidam says: “It is unfortunate that up to five hours when this massacre took place, there were no security agents around to stop or contain the situation.”
Islamic jihadists once more showed their subhuman qualities by firstly hurling explosives, then firing into the school and finally hacking teenage boys to death.
It is time for the government of Nigeria to up the ante and to enter bordering areas that may provide safe havens for Boko Haram. Likewise, security failures must result in stern internal reprimands and demotions. The people of Nigeria need protecting from the Boko Haram and other hardline Islamist groups. However, the latest brutal attack points in the opposite direction therefore the government of Nigeria needs to take a good look at itself and the same applies to the armed forces of this nation.
