Dare To Achieve Grand Things. By Karen Duffy

How often do you dare to do something grand and reap the rewards by telling yourself, ‘I did it?’ You know, that something you have always wanted to do but were afraid you would fail. Maybe you’ve always wanted to write a book, learn to fly an airplane, go back to college, or become a volunteer and help the needy. Think about it. What do you want to achieve and what would make you happy right now in your life?
There are so many things that we can do to bring satisfaction and joy to our lives, but sometimes, we get busy and bury those grand ideas and goals for another day that never comes. We can all relate to things we wish we would have done and didn’t but God has big plans in store for each of us.
Achieving goals don’t happen over night; we must have a plan and take one step at a time until we make dreams a reality. How can we achieve our great potential?
Did you know that sin restricts us from doing great things and becoming what God wants us to be? Through repentance and prayer, we can become and achieve anything when we pray and follow God’s will.
Jesus saw great potential in Simon Peter, even though Simon was cowardly, impetuous and easily influenced by others. The power of the Lord changed Simon and it was for God’s glory that this change came to be. Jesus saw who Simon was and who he would become. That is why Jesus gave him a new name â€" Cephas in Aramaic, Peter in Greek (the name means “a rock”). By giving Simon a new name, Jesus introduced a change in character, (John 1:42).
God sees our weaknesses but He knows what we can become through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Christ is the only one we can turn to when we want to achieve great things but we must be obedient in our spiritual growth.
Jesus Christ can give us the power to change our lives, to achieve the things He wants us to achieve because, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” (Philippians 4:13).
God is perfect and we are not, but He wants us to grow closer to him so that we can refine our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ died for us and He is our advocate in heaven. The Holy Spirit dwells in us and is our helper on earth. We can walk in fellowship with God when we offer our prayers to His Son and allow the Holy Spirit to draw us closer to God.
Growing in Christ is a learning process, a constant journey, where we seek new and marvelous answers to our questions. Small steps and a lifetime commitment to the Lord’s will = communion with God. We can radiate God’s love to everyone as did the great saints of the church, through daily repentance of our sins and conversion; yielding your will to Jesus. Everyone can accomplish grand and wonderful things but how much more can we do when we serve The Good Shepard.
“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” (Psalm 119:130).
Let God direct your life and you will do great things!
