Trump-admin should mobilize Tibetan-Americans to support election of next Dalai lama. By Hem Raj Jain

Presently two countries the USA and India are having enmity ( some rational and some irrational) against China. The USA because TRump-administration is in a state of tariff / economic war against China ( https://apnews.com/article/tariff-china-united-states-timeline-b9ade8491a16f68282ad655395c602bc ) in addition to Tibet Independencee Act ( https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/4281?s=1&r=47 )

despite one China policy of the USA  (https://www.timesnownews.com/world/dalai-lamas-90th-birthday-did-washington-just-nudge-beijing-with-its-wishes-article-152233601 ) and in case of India it is  due to its traditional enmity against China mainly due to 1962 invasion of India by China which is added by role of China to support Pakistan in war against India during recent ‘operation Sindoor’ ( as reported at https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/india-faced-3-adversaries-inop-sindoor-top-general-101751653355130.html ). Therefore the recent controversy about succession of Dalai Lama (https://www.npr.org/2025/07/06/nx-s1-5440318/the-dalai-lama-turns-90-his-reincarnation-is-stirring-up-conflict-with-china ) has extremely important geo-stretegic ramifications in case India (which has allowed Tibet Government in exile led by Dalai Lama on its soil at Dharamshala in its State of Himachal Pradesh https://www.tibetanrefugeehealth.org/the-establishment-of-the-tibetan-government-in-exile/ ) and where Indian members of Parliament are trying to get Bharat ratna for Dali lama (as reported at https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/bharat-ratna-for-dalai-lama-mps-forum-claims-about-80-signatures/articleshow/122283926.cms )  doesn’t accept the Chinese narrative of selection of Dalai Lama as internal matter of China and instead supports Dalai lama’s preferred procedure of selecting next Dalai lama  (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/china-warns-india-to-choose-its-words-carefully-on-dalai-lama-and-tibet/ar-AA1HZjk4 ) which will make China to consider India’s said policy as encourgaing Tibet seperatism despite India’s official acceptance of One China policy ( https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-global/india-one-china-stand-relations-with-taiwan-8066647/ ) and that may anger China to try dismemberment of India (with the help of other willing countries) through separation of its 7 states in North East  of India (as reported at  https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/bangladesh-asks-for-chinas-extension-in-veiled-threat-to-northeast-india-8055454 ) which will disturb the entire geo-strategic global order. Therefore Trump-administration / the leader of free world the USA should take this matter seriously as given below:-

(1)- First and foremost the USA should resolve this issue as per the demand of justice and not out of the said prejudices.

(2) The USA should know that out of 7.7 million Tibetans 7.06 million that is over 90 % (91.69 % as mentioned at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tibetans ) Tibetans live in Tibet within the territories of China hence any claim by present Dalai Lama that he represents the religion of Tibetans is bogus.

(3)- In such a situation the logical course of action is that the next Dalai Lama should be elected by religious leaders & clergy of Buddhism of  over 90 % Tibetans living in China.

(4)- It is not at all difficult to constitute the electoral college (of all the religious leaders and clergy of Buddhism in Tibet in China which can elect the next Dalai Lama which will be as per justice and democratic principles) if the Trump-administration mobilizes Tibetan-Americans to take interest in this process / program.

It is hoped that in interest of peace in the region the Trump-administration would take the controversy of the next Dalai Lama with requisite seriousness and would mobilize Tibetan Americans to take keen interest in the election of next Dalai lama  by religious leaders & clergy of Buddhism of  over 90 % Tibetans who are residing in China.
