Thirteenth Disciple and the Temple of God. By Khalid Shahzad
In the Holy Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ mentioned the Good Samaritan in his message, which aims to teach equal rights and selfless service. Luke 10: 25-37. Christians have shown their iron in every field of life in the construction and development of Pakistan, defense, public service, education and training throughout the country. The Lord Jesus chose 12 disciples, but I believe that every faithful Christian is the thirteenth disciple who fulfills his responsibilities well with sincerity, hard work and honesty and creates convenience for his neighbors without caring for his own life. In John 15:13, the Lord Jesus says: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27) Then Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan and finally said: “Go, and do the same.” (Luke 10:37). “No one loves more than this than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (October 2009) Pervaiz Masih, a brave sweeper at the International Islamic University, Islamabad (women’s campus), sacrificed his life to save the lives of hundreds of female students. A suicide bomber entered the women’s campus wearing a burqa. He was heading towards the cafeteria where hundreds of female students were. Brave sweeper Pervaiz Masih stopped him at the door and prevented him from entering. The attacker blew himself up right there. Pervaiz Masih was martyred, but the female students inside were safe because the explosion occurred outside. If he had wanted to, Pervaiz Masih could have saved his life, a person who is considered inferior by society because of his profession, whose eating utensils are different, who got a job because of his religion. Pervaiz Masih was not a sweeper but the thirteenth disciple of the Lord Jesus who sacrificed his life to save the daughters of Pakistan. This verse from John 15:13 was completely true in her life. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says:
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
When the fire was playing a deadly game in the neonatal ward of PIMS Hospital, the entire staff of the ward was running for their lives, when smoke was suffocating in every corner of the ward, when everyone had thrown down their weapons in the face of the heat and horror of the cruel fire, then a brave daughter looked into the eyes of danger, when the burning fire was engulfing everything, then the thirteenth disciple of God opened the door and picked up a child and made that child immortal. If only the staff in the ward had picked up one child at a time, then perhaps there would have been no heavy loss of life. Razia Noreen said that if it were up to her, she would have saved all the children. The government has announced a huge reward and a civil award (Star of Service) for this brave nurse Razia Noreen. This is commendable on the part of the government, but how much better it would have been if the government had also announced a Star of Courage or Star of Service for the scavenger Pervez Masih, who was martyred at the International Islamic University Islamabad campus, so that his young children and girls who are taking admission in the university would know about the martyrdom of Pervez Masih and the importance of his profession. We firmly believe that a Pakistani Christian serves as the thirteenth disciple in every institution.
Jesus said: “You also go and do likewise.” (Luke 10:37)
And then: “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13). In today's age of selfishness, when brother is the enemy of brother over the division of property, when women are being massacred in the name of honor, where young girls face sexual violence every day, the responsibility of the thirteenth student increases even more and a single moment of his bravery becomes the hallmark of his entire life.Which is the model of the temple of God.
