Donald Trump’s Concern for Christians Facing Insecurity Worldwide. By Dr. Emanuel Adil Ghouri
When Donald Trump was elected President of the United States for a second term in the election held on November 5, 2024, I firmly believed that this choice was ordained by God. The Lord intends to make America the world's most powerful nation under Trump's leadership; furthermore, He seeks to provide protection—through this powerful president—to Christians across the globe who are facing insecurity. A man of strong faith, he fully understands his responsibility.
Currently, Christians in various Asian and African countries are facing persecution, abuse, and injustice. Human rights groups and organizations—such as Intersociety—report that thousands of Christians have been killed and hundreds of churches torched in attacks by militants in Nigeria; in light of this situation, US President Donald Trump has expressed deep concern over the killings of Christians in Nigeria and has added the country to the list of nations that violate religious freedom (designated as "Countries of Particular Concern"). He stated on social media that if the Nigerian government failed to halt the massacre of Christians, the United States would immediately cut off all aid. Adopting a tougher stance, he directed the Pentagon to prepare for potential action and warned that stern measures would be taken against the militants if necessary. Addressing the 'Faith and Freedom Coalition' in June 2026, Trump claimed that his policies and actions—such as operations against militants in Nigeria—were aimed at protecting Christian communities worldwide and promoting religious freedom. While addressing the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2026, he stated clearly that Christians across the globe are facing severe persecution—a situation consistently ignored by international bodies and human rights organizations. In his speech, Trump sharply criticized the international community and the UN Human Rights Council. He remarked that these institutions remain silent spectators to the atrocities committed against Christians, even as the Christian community has long endured dire conditions at the hands of oppressive regimes.. According to Trump, approximately 80 percent of the world's population lives in countries where religious freedom is at risk, with Christians being the most severely affected. Trump believes that the survival of Christianity is threatened in various regions of the world—particularly in West Africa and under communist or authoritarian regimes. He warned that if these extremist forces are not checked, they will not only shut down churches but also attempt to completely eradicate the religion. The Trump administration has taken—and continues to take—various practical measures to safeguard religious freedom.
A special federal task force was established to combat anti-Christian bias and ensure the protection of the Christian community's rights at both domestic and international levels. President Donald Trump has consistently supported Christians facing religious persecution in Iran; he has met with Iranian Christian victims and pastors at the White House and has raised his voice internationally against violations of religious freedom in Iran.
Similarly, during President Trump's first term, the US State Department placed Pakistan on the blacklist of "Countries of Particular Concern." The primary reason for this was the assessment by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) that Pakistan had failed to protect religious minorities (including Christians and Hindus) or ensure religious freedom. The Trump administration urged Pakistan to curb the misuse of blasphemy laws and take strict action against extremist elements targeting minorities. During this period, security aid was also suspended to increase pressure on Pakistan. Christians facing insecurity worldwide are looking to President Donald Trump for assistance.
