Police torture in Mandi Bahauddin

Mandi Bahauddin: September 22, 2015. (Sher Gondal) Rahila Khanam Advocate has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for ordering judicial inquiry into police case of torturing her husband and implicating him in a false case. Talking to media men here she said police old culture still prevails and there is no let up in registering false cases and using third degree techniques of torturing innocent citizens by police for ulterior motive. She said her husband Shehzad works as editor of a local daily. He published a news item regarding running of secret torture cells by police to terrorize suspects to get confession. This annoyed Sadar Police who on Sept 10 in broad day light raided the office located on Railway Road and after abducting Shehzad took him to some unknown place, she alleged. She further alleged police tortured her husband with burning cigarettes, hot rods and gave him electric shocks as well. When he fainted they registered false case against him under 506 PPC/25D and got him admitted to DHQ Hospital when his condition turned precarious. She said that, thereafter, police informed her about the FIR. She reached hospital and on her application through Alaqa Magistrate her husband was medically examined. The medical officer advised her to take him to Lahore for treatment. As per medical legal report her husband received 15 injuries. She pleaded that her husband is innocent but police implicated him in false case and tortured him without any legal or moral justification. When asked she told that SI Bashir Bosal and SHO Sadar with other police officials tortured her husband.
