Islamabad: October 30, 2015. Pakistan's World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan and his wife Reham have divorced with mutual consent after 10 months of marriage, a spokesman of the cricketer-turned-politician revealed on 30 October. "PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) chairman Imran Khan and Reham Khan have decided to divorce by mutual consent," Khan's spokesman Naeemul Haque wrote on Facebook. "Due to the sensitivity and seriousness of this extremely painful matter it is requested that the media should refrain from any speculation. There will be no further communication in this respect," Haque said. According to a report in Pakistan's Dawn.com, the 63-year-old PTI chairman and the 42-year-old former BBC presenter were "just not getting along". "She wanted to get involved with politics and that is not what Khan wanted at all. She just did not want to sit at home," a source close to Imran told Dawn.com. "There were teething problems as well over other issues which were being resolved but this was a major issue - she wanted to get into politics and was not ready to back down," he added. The report also suggests that "there was a lot of pressure on Imran" from his family to divorce Reham, especially from his sister Aleema Khan who had earlier expressed her displeasure over the marriage. Following the reports of their split, Reham Khan also took to Twitter to confirm that they had parted ways and were no longer together. On the other hand, Imran also urged everyone to respect their privacy while praising Reham's passion to work for the underprivileged on Twitter.
