PFUJ condemn killing of journalist Zaman Mehsaud

Lahore: November 4, 2015. (PCP) Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has condemned the killing of yet another journalist Zaman Mehsaud, who was shot dead in Tank District yesterday. Zaman Mehsud belonged to South Waziristan and was coming from his hometown Gomel towards Tank City on His Motor Bike and some unknown person opened fire on him. He was shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Tank, and then District Headquarter Hospital DI khan but succumbed to injuries and died. He was working with Daily Umat (Karachi) and also running his own twitter news, "Gomel News". President PFUJ and Secretary General Amin Yousuf have condemned this brutal killing of Zaman Mehsud and demanded the government to take prompt action to arrest the culprits. They said that Pakistan was already amongst most dangerous country in the world for the journalists where as many as 117 journalists have sacrificed their lives in the last decade. The PFUJ leaders have called for a country wide protest on Thursday if the local police failed to arrest the unknown killer of Zaman Mehsud. "We are already running impunity campaign for the crimes against journalists and this murder has added the difficulties for the working journalists in the country," they concluded. The PFUJ leaders urged the local police to expedite the proceedings to arrest the culprits so that they could be trailed under the terrorist laws of the land.
