Ahmadiyya community of South London arranges Eid Milan Party

London: September 30, 2016. (By Ata Us Salam) Muslims all over the world celebrate two Eids in an Islamic year. One of called Eidul Fitr and second one is called Eidul Adha. Eidul Adha is also called sacrifice feast. It honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) PBUH to sacrifice his son in the way of God and his son’s obedience. Eidul Adha is celebrated on the very next day of Hajj. Whenever and wherever possible, Ahmadiyya Muslim community arranges get together parties after Eid. These parties are usually called Eid Milan party where people of different walks of life can meet each other and can have food together as a part of Eid celebration. One such party was organised at Addington Community Centre of New Addington by the elders of Ahmadiyya community of South London on the 19th of September to provide an opportunity to the members of different communities to participate in the Eid celebrations. In this programme, speeches were delivered by the representatives of Christian and Ahmadiyya community as well as by the Croydon council’s representative. This programme was also attended by MP for Croydon Central Mr Gavin Barwell, Deputy Mayor of Croydon Council Toni Letts and clergy from Christian and Sikh community. Imam Ata ul Mujeed Rashid highlighted the true essence of Eidul Adha in Islamic perspective. Reverand Debbie Forman highlighted the concept of sacrifice in Christian faith. MP Gavin Barwell and Toni Letts also addressed the audience. More than hundred people of different background participated and praised this informative event. The party concluded with silent prayer followed by dinner.
