Florida: April 1, 2009. (PCP) The leader of SAOMP Musarrat Nasir issued a devotional message for Palm Sunday. In a message she wrote “As we are approaching Palm Sunday, let us remember what happened in that week. There was stir in Bethany and along the road leading to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of the Pass over. What is Passover? This was the feast in remembrance of the day in which Lord brought Israel out of the house of bondage after the first born of the Egyptians died. Children of Israel were asked by God to take a Lamb without blemish and scarify it and put some blood on the lintel and the two doorposts of their houses. And it came to pass at midnight that the Lord struck all the firstborn in the Land of Egypt, but He Passover the doors with the sign of the blood. Those were the houses of the Israelis. Jesus and His disciples were going to the Jerusalem for this celebration of the feast of the Passover. Crowd was gathered, disciples threw their robes over a colt and placed Jesus upon it and the procession started. Jesus got the public recognition and celebration of His right as Messiah king. It was different than a coronation of a king. In their enthusiasm, people tore off branches from the Palm and Olive trees and carpeted the highway. There were three types of people in that crowd” The ones who were overjoyed and amazed by His teachings and His miracles. They believed in Him and proclaim Him king. Shouts rang through the air, Hosanna, blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest. Matthew 21: 9 2. The ones who questioned, who is He? They never heard of Him or never paid attention to His teachings. Pharisees, who said to Jesus, teacher, Order your disciples to stop. Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out” Luke 19: 40 Let us ask a question to ourselves, which group do I belong to? THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK Who is the king of Glory? The Lord Jesus Christ, He is the Lamb without blemish, the lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world. Jesus is our sacrificial Lamb.
