Zardari Dumps, Then Lifts Shahbaz Bhatti As Needed

Vatican City, Italy: October 4, 2009. (PCP report) In a drastic switch by Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Minority Minister Shahbaz Bhatti was “summoned” overnight to join “his master’s delegation” in Italy in a face-saving drama in front of Pope Benedict. The Holy Father has been known by his outspoken stand on the cause of tolerance and interfaith harmony. Just one week earlier, Shahbaz Bhatti was dumped by Zardari during his US visit. Bhatti hid himself for four days in Rawalpindi but told his friends that he was with the President in New York. But when President Zardari went to visit the Catholic Pontiff Pope Benedict XVI in Italy, he made sure to include Pakistani Catholic Shahbaz Bhatti in his delegation. In return, Bhatti also proved to be a “loyal tool” when he watered down the pains of Pakistan’s suffering minorities and praised the government of Zardari’s “superficial efforts” in improving Interfaith Harmony between the religions. Shahbaz Bhatti has been selected by the present government to be a “tool” to the Pakistani minorities and to appease the Western governments, when they object on Pakistan’s subhuman treatment to its minorities. Bhatti is on the government’s payroll and in no way represents the minorities since they never elected him. An average citizen does not even have access to this so called representative of the minorities.
