Lahore: January 19, 2010. (PCP) PCC-Lahore Council had a one day event on 15th of January, 2010 on the birthday of Martin Luther King. There were 117 participants of Lahore Council from Lahore and Kasur districts.
In his key note address Mr. Bhatti said that this legend civil rights activist, clergyman, passionate non-violent protestor was an eloquent orator who captured the imagination and hearts of people, both black and white.
The passion is beyond boundaries and borders. His way of life, thinking patterns and initiatives have reached to world especially to the deprived and excluded individuals and masses.
He matched the use of Religion for the vested interests in the USA at that time of history with the current religious extremism in Pakistan.
He read the famous American Negro Song “by J. W. Work “Free at last, free at last”.
Mr. Rizwan Paul gave a short biography of the King. He also analyzed the political frame-work of “Montgomery Bus Boycott” and his opposition to Vietnam War in the present political mapping of Pakistan with a special context to terrorism, religious violence and ethnic polarization.
There was a video show of the historical speech of the King I Have a Dream which had claps and cries.
On demand of the participants Mr. Inderias Dominic Bhatti announced that PCC – Lahore Council will translate and print this speech in Urdu soon.
The participants prayed for peace, justice and harmony to prevail and Pakistan at the event as well.
