Kashmir solution viable through peaceful talks: Peoples League

Srinagar: January 21, 2010. (PCP) In continuation to door to door campaign Senior Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza on Thursday visited Awantipora, Tral and Dadsaru of South Kashmir Pulwama District. While addressing an impressive gathering Waza said that the 63-years-old Kashmir dispute can be resolved through peaceful negotiations among Pakistan, India and genuine Kashmiri leadership. Waza said that Pakistan, India and the genuine leadership of Kashmiris should be involved in the dialogue process to settle the dispute, adding that the talks should be meaningful and result-oriented. Waza said that before initiating talks India should create conducive atmosphere by taking steps like demilitarization, repeal of black laws, put an end to human rights violations in Kashmir and release all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists. Meanwhile Spokesman of Peoples League Ghulam Nabi Waseem visited many places of North Kashmir like Kralpora, Sogam, Zachildara and Vilgam. While addressing immense gathering Waseem said the international community has accepted Kashmir as a dispute and now it was its responsibility to implement UN resolutions. "India for last 63 years is not showing any interest in implementing the resolutions", he said and called upon the U.N to come forward and resolve the dispute. He called upon human rights bodies to take serious note of human rights abuses committed by the Indian forces in Kashmir.
