Asma Jahangir pays tribute to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto

LARKANA: February 16, 2010. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) Chairperson Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Asma Jahangir on Tuesday said that people of Pakistan are the best judge to evaluate and parliament can only to interpret constitution. Country needs supremacy of law and not the supremacy of President, Prime Minister and Chief Justice. These notions were expressed by the HRCP Chairperson Asma Jahangir, while addressing to the HRCP Seminar on “Current Political Situation in Pakistan”. She further said that all institutions should perform remaining within their orbits and the pillars of the state, executive and judiciary must play their positive role to strengthen the national institutions and avoid confrontation leading to the destruction of country, she said. Asma stated that no one allowed to derail the democratic system of country, added that the present crises can be averted when all institutions will play their constitutional role according to the objectives he said. She paid rich tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and said that she great dynamic world leader who struggle for the revival of democracy to challenge the dictator Musharaf and returned to Pakistan despite of the life threats. She criticized former dictator Musharaf, who claims a bold General but why hidden abroad, he made tyranny by him. She also condemned few anchors partial role regarding the criticism against the democratic government, said that every one knows about the aspects behind the truth. HRCP Chairperson said they had started drive for an independent judiciary, not for an individual, adding that the judiciary interfering in the government matters by taking suo moto action for sugar crises and other issues but all, the Judges, politicians, Army and others should be held accountable because majority of countrymen are liberal she said. On the occasion, speakers including Dr. Adeeb Inqlabi, Dr. Zulfikar Rahoojo, Kalpna Devi, S. Iqbal Babu President Press Club Larkana, Mohammed Parial Marri, Mohammed Siddique Abro and others spoke to the seminar by HRCP Larkana.
