Islamabad: February 24, 2010. (PCP) Christian youth in Pakistani is waiting for scholarships from last ten months which are being awarded by Federal Minority Minister from years. It is reported that when Federal Minority Ministry was headed by Muslim federal ministers under Religious and Minority Ministry, the scholarships were distributed with four weeks. Now when Minority Ministry is being headed by a Christian Shahbaz Bhatti, as Federal Minister for Minority, the Christian studented and youth are waiting for scholarships from 10 months. One Christian youth told PCP that “We have been waiting for minority scholarships since 10 months from Ministry of Minority, Pakistan, whose minister is Mr. Shahbaz Bhatti. Before this when there were Muslim ministers and secretaries the scholarships were provided within shortest time and even Punjab government which is considered to be a pro-Muslim government has provided timely minority scholarships to a large number of students” A Christian youth e-mailed PCP Now Sahahbaz Bhatti our minister and part of a secular party is failed to provide scholarships to his young community on Christmas time and even now when Easter is near. I'm sure they will politically exploit also to give scholarships (if they want to) their favorites and not on merit” Another student told PCP that “This is another failure of our Minister Shahbaz Bhatti and we regret that PPP selected him” A Student sends e-Mail “My humble request is to show on your web this email or raise this issue may be someone responsible will read and our poor Christian students will get scholarships before Easter.”
