The Islamic Republic of Pakistan since the birth of their country has translated Islamic names and words into English i.e. Masjit to Mosque, Allah to God, Salaat to Prayer and etc. However recently, from the 4th of June 2015, The Prime Minister of Pakistan has signed the bill that orders to no longer use the English words when translating the Islamic words or names. The bill has been active from the month of Ramadan on the 18th of June 2015.
The director of The Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement Centre, Mr. Nasir Saleem, who works for the religious freedom of the country, has shared his doubts and has warned that the religious minorities will be directly affected by this bill. It seems this bill has been passed only to please the extremist religious groups/parties.
Dr. Mubarik Ali writes that the sub-continent of India and now also Pakistan, most Islamic governmental leaders have used their religion as a weapon to stabilise and extend their reign of power. On one hand Zerb-e-Azeb (fight against terrorism), has started to take action against the religious extremist groups, in which the outcome results are very positive so far, however on the other hand, there is acceptance for Dyish (I.S.).
Back in 1990-1993, while Nawaz Sharif was in power, a new kind of religious identification section was introduced on the ID cards. In the Sindh Assembly where the PPP party was in power, a member of the Sindh Parliament for minorities, Mr. Saleem Khoker, stood up for the minorities and submitted the resolution against this bill, which was accepted collectively. Then this decision was reversed by Prim Minister Nawez Sharif, because this law was against the unity and the safety of the country.
The history of Pakistan has witnessed that whenever Nawez Sharif is re-elected as Prim Minister, it has happened to satisfy the mullas, resulting in a mountain of hardship falling upon the minorities.
It says in The Holy Bible “So then, as the body without the Spirit is dead, so also faith without actions is dead.” James 2:26. It is out of the question to understand why we are strangling ourselves in language, attire and in our appearances, having left behind the good deeds we should be focused on.
We are setting this generation backwards to our ancient roots, to what the ancestors of this country have done. In fact the culture of your religious book or the culture of society and traditions does not harm your faith or religion.
Your country is known by your culture, for example the national language is Urdu in Pakistan and the national apparel is shalware kameez. Whatever religion you may have, a Pakistani will speak, write and read in Urdu. Many Muslim people still say Khuda Hafiz (May God protect you) it does not mean that they are not Muslims. Pakistani Christians and people of other religions also wear the national Pakistani attire, they also speak the Urdu language, many a time in the European countries, and around the world, people think that an individual is a Muslim, just because it is automatically wrongly assumed that all people from Pakistan that wear shalwar kameez and speak in the Urdu language are Muslims.
In the same way Muslim people from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh living in the United Kingdom now have started to wear Shalwar Kameez and the Arabic gown and Hajab, they only want to look Muslim by their appearance. Wearing Shalwar Kameez is common and accepted but wearing Arabic clothing is not needed and misleading, what do people want to prove? Already the Islamic youth and families who went
to Iraq and Syria to fight for I.S. is damaging the image of Islam worldwide. Europe is keeping a watchful eye on Muslims and the immigration laws are becoming tighter.
Ever since NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) have sent their forces in Afghanistan to free them from Russia and to free Iraq from Sadam Hussain’s oppression, instead of making settlements with the ruling people who are responsible for all these occurrences and circumstances, Muslims chose the way of battle and conflict within international religions and made their own identity, through their religious words and attire; which happens to be more harmful than beneficial. The harmony between international religions has become endangered. After the incidence of 9-11 the Islamic religious extremists’ organisations have introduced the green turbans and beards to the Muslim youths. More and more turbans and beards have been seen over time, people started to name their sons Usama, then the saying ‘Khuda Hafiz’ was replaced by ‘Allah Hafiz’. Why are Muslims emphasising their identity more on words and clothes, trying to prove themselves as true Muslims. It would be better if they gave more importance on their acts and deeds to please their God, in order to end the corruption and to prosper their country
