Hyderabad: June 23, 2016. (By Abbas Kassar) Christians of Pakistan under banner of Bright Society have expressed concern on hate material against them on social media which they termed as provocative. They have demanded formation of National Council for Minority Rights.
Addressing news conference here on Thursday the Christian leaders Boota Imtiaz, Sooba Bhatti advocate, Ashraf Raza, Nazir Masih, Hafeez Bhatti, Salamat Faqira, Padri Khadim, Pervez Khokhar,Danish Yakoob and Samuel Piyara said the orders of Supreme Court on rights of minorities were not being followed.
They demanded Christian mission school Bheempura Karachi be handed back to Christian community. They asked government to take steps to stop hate material on social media and the culprits be brought to book. They demanded formation of National Council for Minority Rights which should enshrine the acceptance of rights of minorities. Council should frame policy for central and provincial governments to provide protection to minorities. They also demanded Nikah registration in Nadra, payment of Rs.20 million among injured of Peshawar Church, setting up of task force and 5% quota in government jobs.
