Seminar for Teachers held in Lahore

Lahore: March 6, 2019. (Haroon Gill) A seminar for teachers was organized in the St. Mary’s Hall Gulberg, Lahore where almost 200 teachers from different schools participated. Fr. Benedict Ayodi OFM Cap was the speaker of this seminar while Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap the Custos of the Capuchins in Pakistan was the guest of honor.

Fr. Benedict Ayodi OFM Cap spoke on “The role of teachers to promote peace and religious harmony in the light of encounter between St. Francis and Sultan”. He said that we are challenged to educate and form our children into being responsible, just and peaceful citizens and future leaders. The Teachers have a vital responsibility in doing this. This transformation of consciousness is possible through an education that seeks peace and justice, and an important pathway toward this kind of education is one that supports interfaith dialogue and cooperation

Fr. Benedict insisted the need of peace education in the curricular in order to have peace and harmony in the society.  He encouraged the teachers to promote the culture of peace, cooperation and love while developing the homely environment in the school.  He emphasized that teachers can play a very important role in the formation, development and transformation of children into being just, peaceful, and people who respect themselves, others and the environment.

Fr. Sunil Irfan OFM Cap thanked the speaker and all the participants.
