Sialkot: A young Christian girl from Sialkot has been abducted by newly arrived Muslim neighbours, sparking deep concern among her family and the local Christian community. Police have arrested two suspects and uncovered their links to prostitution, leading to raids on multiple locations. However, the girl remains missing, intensifying fears that she has been trafficked. Her distraught parents continue to plead for urgent action, fearing for their daughter’s safety and well-being.

On 9th January, 14-year-old Sunaiha Sharif, a young Christian girl from Korpur village, Sialkot, was abducted by newly arrived Muslim neighbors. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and arrested two suspects; however, Sunaiha remains missing. Her devastated parents have turned to the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) for help in locating their daughter.

The suspects, Samina Bibi and her daughter Amina, had recently rented a house directly across from Sunaiha’s home. Gaining the trust of the Christian family, they initially approached Sunaiha’s parents, pleading for food, claiming to be destitute. Moved by compassion, the family regularly provided meals, leading to a close relationship between the two households. Over time, Sunaiha and Amina developed a friendship, unaware of the sinister intentions lurking beneath their kindness.

On the evening of the abduction, Amina Bibi arrived at Sunaiha’s home and requested permission from her mother, Sonam Bibi (33), to take Sunaiha with her to a nearby grocery shop. Trusting Amina, Sonam allowed her daughter to go, believing they would return within minutes.

However, when 15 minutes passed and the girls had not returned, Sonam grew anxious and rushed to Amina’s house to inquire about their whereabouts. Samina Bibi initially reassured her, claiming that both girls were still out and there was no reason to worry.

Moments later, a local Christian man, Rehan Masih, arrived and delivered devastating news—he had witnessed Amina and two unknown men forcibly pushing Sunaiha into a rickshaw and driving her away.

The revelation struck Sonam Bibi like a thunderbolt. In a state of panic, she immediately called her husband, Sharif Masih (45), who works as a sweeper at Illyas Marquee. Sharif rushed home without delay and confronted Samina, demanding that she bring their daughter back.

Samina Bibi denied any involvement in the abduction and falsely claimed that her own daughter had also gone missing. Seeking police intervention, Sonam Bibi and Sharif Masih took Samina with them to Muradpur Police Station to report the incident. Following a brief investigation, the police uncovered Samina and Amina’s connections to a prostitution ring and registered a First Information Report (FIR No. 46/25) under Section 365-B against Samina Bibi, her daughter Amina Bibi, her husband Muhammad Shabir, and two unidentified individuals.

365B.   Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel for marriage etc.-

Whoever kidnaps or abducts any woman with intent that she may be compelled, or knowing it to be likely that she will be compelled, to marry any person against her will, or in order that she may be forced, or seduced to illicit intercourse, or knowing it to be likely that she will be forced or seduced to illicit intercourse, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, and shall also he liable to fine; and whoever by means of criminal intimidation as defined in this Code, or of abuse of authority or any other method of compulsion, induces any woman to go from any place with intent that she may be, or knowing that it is likely that she will be, forced or seduced to illicit intercourse with another person shall also be punishable as aforesaid.

Samina Bibi was arrested and interrogated, leading the police to raid a suspected prostitution centre in Wazirabad. However, Sunaiha was not found. Samina has since been sent to District Jail Sialkot on judicial remand, while Muhammad Shabir remains under investigation.

On 20th January, a BACA team visited Sunaiha Sharif’s family, offering legal and financial assistance to aid in their fight for justice. The family resides in a rented house in a remote village, with Sharif Masih working as a sweeper at a marquee to support his children, Ammar Masih (18), Izhaq Masih (5), and Sarah Sharif (4). Speaking to BACA, Sonam Bibi shared her anguish, saying:

“We helped the family out of compassion and provided them with food that Sharif brought home from the marquee every day,” Sonam Bibi recalled.

“It was only at the police station that we discovered both mother and daughter had ties to prostitution,” she added, her voice trembling.

Overcome with grief, she broke into tears.

“We are afraid,” she sobbed.

“I am extremely worried about my daughter’s safety. I don’t know where she is.”

“Please help me bring her back. She is just 13 years old—she knows nothing. She is an obedient daughter who always helped me with household chores.”

Meanwhile, the ordeal has taken a devastating toll on the family. Sharif Masih has lost his job, as his daily trips to the police station have made it impossible for him to continue working.

Bring Sunaiha Home – Urgent Appeal

Sunaiha Sharif, a 13-year-old Christian girl, has been abducted in Sialkot. Her parents fear she has been trafficked into prostitution, yet despite arrests, the police have failed to find her. Time is running out.

Her heartbroken parents, Sharif Masih and Sonam Bibi, are fighting tirelessly for her return, but without a solicitor, their voices are being ignored.

How You Can Help

? £2,000 is urgently needed to hire a solicitor to take legal action and pressure the authorities to act.

? £100 per month for six months (£600 total) will provide basic support for Sunaiha’s family, who have lost their income while battling for justice and the return of their daughter.

Without Legal Support, Sunaiha May Never Return Home

Christian families in Pakistan face discrimination, and justice is often denied. Without your help, Sunaiha’s parents will be left to fight this battle alone.

Please, stand with them today.

Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee for British Asian Christian Association, said:

“Sunaiha’s parents are enduring unimaginable anguish as they fight for their daughter’s safe return. Without legal representation, their cries for justice are being ignored. This is the heartbreaking reality for many Christian families in Pakistan, where abductors—especially when they are Muslim—often act with impunity, knowing the police will either delay investigations or allow cases to quietly fade away.

All too often, local police foster an environment where a ‘compromise’ bribe is encouraged, pressuring desperate Christian families into silence rather than pursuing justice. Even when cases reach the courts, Pakistan’s Qisas and Diyat laws allow perpetrators to escape punishment simply by paying blood money, meaning too many criminals walk free.
