Pakistan: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” – Romans 10:15
On 2nd May 2025, the British Asian Christian Association (BACA) embarked on a faith-filled journey from Lahore to the remote region of Cholistan in Southern Punjab, Pakistan. Our mission: to share God’s love through His Word with one of the most underprivileged and overlooked Christian communities in the nation.
At the heart of this journey was a call from local evangelist Jamshed Masih, a tireless servant of the Gospel who has dedicated himself to reaching isolated believers scattered across Cholistan. He reached out with a humble request – for printed and audio Bibles in Urdu – so that Christians in these distant areas could grow deeper in their walk with Christ.
A Community Rooted in Faith Despite Hardship
The Christian population in Southern Punjab is largely made up of converts from scheduled caste Hindu backgrounds. Though many of them lack formal education and live in impoverished conditions – enduring water scarcity, scorching heat, and harsh living standards – their faith in Christ is unshakable. Most earn their livelihood through herding and working on local farms, living in modest mud homes under the shadow of dominant Muslim landlords. Yet, in their trials, they testify to the power and hope of Jesus.
Our team first reached Khanewal on the morning of 3rd May and after resting at the home of our gracious host, Jamshed Masih, continued on to Dunyapur – 90 kilometers further. There, Pastor Kamar Masih and his congregation greeted us warmly, helping to distribute Audio Bibles to those unable to read.
In Dunyapur, we met Ramesh Lal, a humble farm worker who received an Audio Bible with overflowing gratitude. He said:
“I am uneducated, but our Lord is so wonderful that He knows how to help us overcome our shortcomings. I am out of words to thank the Lord for this wonderful gift. I know it has treasures of blessings, and I will keep it with me always—whether at home or working in the fields.”
Another local, Lazar Masih (66), offered heartfelt prayers for the donors who made the gift possible.
The journey continued as our team travelled two and a half hours further to Chack 66 in Cholistan. There, the depth of faith among the Christian residents moved our hearts. Despite the difficult desert environment, their spiritual fervor was radiant.
We held a short worship service and began distributing Urdu Bibles. Though their native tongue is Saraiki, many in the community understand Urdu and Punjabi, making the Word accessible. Printed Bibles were gifted to literate members, while Audio Bibles were given to the elderly and those unable to read.
The joy on the faces of those who received the Bibles was indescribable. For them, it wasn’t just a book or a device—it was the living Word of God, a source of comfort and strength in their daily struggles. And for our team, it was a privilege to be used by the Lord in such a meaningful way.
Before we departed, Brother Jamshed shared that there remains a pressing need for more Audio Bibles—especially in both Urdu and Saraiki, the local language. The community has invited us to return, and we are prayerfully planning future visits to continue sowing seeds of faith.
The Gospel is spreading, but countless others are still waiting to hear it in a language and format they can understand. You can help bridge that gap by sponsoring the gift of God’s Word. Just £5 provides a printed Bible in Urdu for a believer who can read but cannot afford one. For £16,
The British Asian Christian Association was honoured to pioneer this initiative by supplying the original Urdu translations to MegaVoice back in 2012, making it possible for these high-quality Audio Bibles to be produced for the first time. With your support, we can ensure many more receive.
Together, let’s continue to be the hands and feet of Christ—bringing His Word to the ends of the earth.
Juliet Chowdhry, Trustee for British Asian Christian Association, said:
“There is no greater joy than sharing the Gospel with those who are hungry for God’s Word. The Bible teaches us that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God—and in this mission, we are feeding souls. Men and women alike are treasuring this gift and will share it within their families, multiplying its impact. As a charity, one of our core aims is to advance Christ’s Kingdom, and through these Bibles, we are seeing that vision come to life.”
