Sialkot: Yousaf Masih, a 44-year-old Christian painter from Sialkot, was found brutally murdered two days after going missing.&nbs
Hafizabad, Punjab: On 2nd September 2025, 14-year-old Kinza Bibi, a Christian girl from village Dhani, district Hafizabad, was brutally raped by her Muslim neighbour, Muhammad Haroon. Kinza is now suffering from severe post-traumatic stress and has been relocated to a safer place, while her attacker remains free on pre-arrest bail from the Session Court Hafizabad.
At around 6:00 pm, Kinza was home alone, caring for her youngest sister, Erika (9 months), while her mother, Rukhsana Bibi (40 yrs), went out to buy vegetables for dinner. Her siblings were at tuition, and her father, Anser Masih (42 yrs), was in Karachi attending a relative’s funeral.
Taking advantage of her isolation, Muhammad Haroon entered the house through the roof, dragged Kinza into the front room, and raped her despite her desperate pleas to be let go.
When Rukhsana returned home half an hour later, she found Kinza crying on the bed.
“I felt as if the sky had fallen on me. I started weeping with my daughter while holding her in my arms,” she told BACA.
Unable to cope, she called her husband, who immediately returned home from Karachi, arriving the next night.
Seeking Justice
On 3rd September, the family reported the assault at Kasoki Police Station. Police registered FIR No. 729/25 under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code. They collected evidence, and the medical report confirmed the assault.
Despite this, Haroon secured pre-arrest bail, leaving the family vulnerable to threats. Kinza’s mother reported that Haroon’s brothers, Basharat Ali and Ali, verbally abused her and threatened to kill the family if they did not drop the case. Rukhsana has filed a complaint with the District Police Officer, Hafizabad regarding these threats.
The family also faces financial pressure. Anser’s employer at a local brick kiln, who has close ties with the attacker’s family, demanded that he either drop the case or repay a loan of Rs. 300,000 (£800) immediately. Anser, now unable to work due to family obligations and frequent police visits, shared:
“How can I be expected to pay such a large amount when I have lost my job? The stress of this situation is destroying any hope I have for justice.”
BACA’s Support
On 20th September, the BACA team visited the family, prayed with them, and provided urgent financial support. BACA would also like to provode legal assistance so the family can continue to pursue justice safely.
Kinza remains traumatised, and her family continues to face threats and intimidation. With your support, BACA can help protect them, provide legal aid, and ensure their voices are heard.
