Another Christian Mother of Six Missing in Lahore: Rising Concerns Over Minority Women’s Safety. Report by Sardar Mushtaq Gill

Lahore, Pakistan: In a shocking incident that has alarmed the Christian community in Lahore, a mother of six has gone missing from Gujjumatta, leaving her husband and children desperate for answers. The woman was reportedly last seen with a local man identified as Muhammad Shani Dogar, though her current whereabouts remain unknown. This case has raised fears of a growing pattern targeting minority women for coercion, forced marriage, and religious conversion.

Her husband, Salamat Masih, described by neighbors as a strong and handsome man but struggling with poverty, is caring for their six children while appealing to authorities for help in finding his wife. The disappearance highlights the vulnerabilities faced by Christian women in Punjab, where multiple similar cases have surfaced in recent weeks.

Sardar Mushtaq Gill, founder of LEAD Ministries, condemned the incident, calling it part of a troubling trend. “We have no words to express our concern. Christian married women are being targeted, possibly for forced conversions and marriages. This is the fifth such case this month alone,” he said.

Pastor Imran Amanat, leader of LEAD Ministries, also spoke about the need for stronger spiritual guidance within the community. “It seems our preaching of the Gospel is not yet strong enough,” Pastor Amanat said. “We must teach our Christian women not to engage in environments where they can be misled to leave their husbands and children for false worldly promises offered by men targeting married Christian women.”

Community leaders have urged law enforcement to act immediately to locate the missing woman and protect other vulnerable women. They stress the importance of both education and legal accountability to prevent further incidents.

Human rights organizations in Pakistan have long criticized authorities for inadequate responses to cases of abduction and forced conversion, noting that victims from marginalized communities often face intense social and legal pressures to remain silent.

As investigations continue, Salamat Masih and his children wait anxiously for the safe return of their mother and wife, hoping that the authorities and community leaders will take swift and effective action to ensure justice.
